Frustrated commander owner
Have 1000xt since dec 2010. Within first 300 miles belt broke destroyed belt cover and other externals. Warranty covered parts only. Got bike back spend a day and covered 75 miles to properly insure belt brake in. Next day bike stopped found out that clutch bolt had come though the cover. Dealer repaired clutch and replaced belt. All covered under warranty. Less than 100 more miles after repair bike stopped again. Back to shop secondary clutch bolt can lose and through cover again. Warranty covered it , shop said belt was fine and was not replaced. Put approx 300 miles on bike while on vacation. Belt blew again. Had local Polaris dealer install belt just to not spoil the riding trip. Livid by this time on the phone with can am. Feeling like a have a lemon law claim. In the process of getting everything to them to investigate. Went out riding yesterday to start breaking in the new belt and damm if that belt didn't break too.
Not new to side by sides have had 2to rhinos and not new to cam am have owned 2 800's problem free and we have the new 10004x4. Who know s a number from can am that I might receive some help. Have lost all faith in a 13k machine with less than 900 miles on it
I realize this is an old thread. However to keep this forum alive. There were a few 3s primary clutches on the first commanders that had the wrong type of thread on the bolt and it didn't take much loosening to destabilize the clutch. Problem is that once the clutch runs offset it's basically finished and needs to be replaced. Some people replaced that clutch with a tra3 version that is normally on brp snowmobiles and it worked.
