Talked to a dealer from Nor Cal today... He said the X won't be available until maybe November with the first standard models being delivered in August. He also said that Can Am was making them buy all kinds of accessories so of course the only way you'll be able to buy it is with a bunch of accessories on it... Don't know if any of that is true or not but he was leaving the dealer conference in Reno when he called. I understand supply and demand, but still think it sucks that dealers are going to gouge every cent out of customers that they can. Went through the same thing with Harley back on 03, only found one dealership willing to sell for MSRP. Since when does shipping, dealer prep etc not be included in RETAIL price.

Can anybody explain the concept of "live rear-end" and what does that have to do with only (1) rear brake disc.?

"live rear-end" means both tires are driven at exactly the same RPM. This can be done different ways such as through a differential or by using one solid axle like at ATV. If you have one disc and a live rear end it will slow down both tires equally...

A "limited slip rear-end" allows the tires to be driven at seperate RPM's, the benifit being the inside tire can spin at a different RPM to facilitate easier turning. live rear ends tend to push the front of the vehicle through turns. A limited slip rear end is preferrable on a riding lawn mower because you don't give yourself a "lawn job" everytime you make a turn...

A live rear end is preferrable in trecherous rock crawling situations because you want power equally to all tires...

Thank you, very nicely explained. I had never heard that term before. So more or less, its posi traction without a solid axle.
